Professional golfer Grayson Murray, aged 30, sadly passes away after his victory on the PGA TOUR.

PGA TOUR champion Grayson Murray, who claimed his second title at this year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, tragically passed away on Saturday.

PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan expressed profound sorrow, stating, “We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words. The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.”

Commissioner Monahan conveyed Murray's parents' wishes to proceed with tournament play, emphasizing their belief that Grayson would have wanted it that way. Grief counselors were available at venues for this week’s PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour events. Further information will be shared as it becomes available.

Murray, renowned for his talent from a young age, won three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships and made his mark as the second-youngest player ever to make a cut on the Korn Ferry Tour at age 16. His professional career flourished after earning full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2016-17 season, culminating in victory at the 2017 Barbasol Championship. Despite challenges in subsequent seasons, Murray regained his form in 2023 on the Korn Ferry Tour, securing two victories and a return to the PGA TOUR for the following season.

In the 2024 season opener, Murray clinched a playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii with a remarkable birdie on the 72nd hole, reaching a career-high 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
